Our Story
How Dawn Began
We’re not engineers who wanted to build a gadget.
We’re parents who ran out of options.
For years, mornings in our house felt like a battle we couldn’t win.
One of us was the soft approach parent — gentle reminders, extra alarms, patience that stretched thinner every week.
The other became the enforcer — louder alarms, firmer voices, escalating tension as the clock kept moving.
Nothing worked.
Our child slept through every alarm.
Even the “loudest ones on the market.”
Even when we were standing right there.
What did work… was conflict.
Mornings turned into yelling.
Then shaking.
Then tears — sometimes ours, sometimes theirs.
And the hardest part wasn’t the lateness.
It was the growing feeling that we were becoming part of the problem.
The Moment Everything Changed
One morning, after another argument before sunrise, we asked a different question:
What if our child isn’t choosing sleep…
What if their body just isn’t waking up yet?
That question changed everything.
We started learning about adolescent sleep, sleep inertia, and how deeply the brain filters sound during certain sleep stages.
We learned why alarms fail — and why parental intervention often makes things worse, not better.
And we realized something uncomfortable but freeing:
Our presence had become the trigger.
A Different Approach
Instead of trying to force wake-ups harder, we wondered:
What if waking didn’t come from sound…
What if it didn’t come from us at all…
What if it came from a gentle physical signal the body could recognize on its own?
Something neutral.
Something calm.
Something that didn’t feel like a fight.
That’s where Dawn began.
Why We Built Dawn
Dawn wasn’t created to “fix” kids.
It was created to remove parents from the battlefield.
To give teens a way to wake independently — without fear, yelling, or shame.
And to give parents back their mornings, their relationship, and their peace.
The first morning it worked, there was no celebration.
Just quiet.
And that’s when we knew this mattered.
Our Mission
Dawn exists for families who have tried everything.
For parents who love their kids but are exhausted by mornings.
For homes that don’t need louder alarms — just a calmer way forward.
It’s not about perfect mornings.
It’s about one peaceful one… and then another.
