It's worth being precise about what the research does not say, because the internet rarely is. There's no good evidence that people with ADHD sleep more deeply than everyone else. When researchers measured how much sound it took to wake hyperactive children compared with other kids, they found no meaningful difference. So the honest picture isn't a brain that can't be woken. - Anchor the wake time: same time every day, weekends within an hour of it. A steady wake time slowly drags bedtime earlier, which chips at the actual deficit.
- Stage the night before: clothes, bag, meds, keys by the door. Every decision moved to 9pm is one the 6:45 brain doesn't have to make.
- Use one cue that can't be tuned out: a different channel from the sound you've spent years learning to ignore, whether that's light, a required task, or vibration on the skin.
- Light and movement immediately: curtains open, feet on the floor, out of the bedroom. The fog fades far faster upright and in daylight than horizontal in the dark.
